The Elysian Fields were now to be opened to us. But then - the shock of recognition. The recognition that all was not perfect in the land of the long gray line.The realization dawned, dazzling and disheartening, that we had merely journeyed through the land of the "bean" only to enter and become mired in the land of the "year-bean". But we shall not despair. We shall look unto Washington Hall - from whence cometh our help, our help cometh from the com who made unlimited weekends and FCPs.

Yearling year particularly is presently recognized by many of us as the end of the old corps and the beginning of the new corps. It was the last year of mandatory chapel, the last full year that plebes would have to "sit up at meals", and it was the last year of true mess hall rallies.
